Yeah, so my area is basically a central for coffee production as I may have mentioned. In the production of coffee they wash it, take the seed out, toast it etc. The toasting and finished coffee isn't the problem really. (Except for those who we are teaching😶🌫️) but anyways, they have to discard all of the things they don't use somewhere, so they just kind of throw it out, onto the ground, no pipe system or anything, I think the hope is that when it rains in the winter the rain will wash it away with the rivers. Who knows honestly, but that smell is not great. Just brings back...great... memories of a lawnmower with grass molding in a closed room or shed. It's splendid.
Yesterday was voting day here in Dota and neighboring Tarrazu, I know those names make no sense, they're just two neighboring small towns. But anyways, they really just threw the whole Costa Rica Pura Vida everyone being chill thing in the trash, there was nonstop honking for a good few hours and there were fireworks (not too mad about the fireworks) and I think there was actually a mosh pit in the park which is new. One of our members is running to make laws in one of the 2 running parties here so we always hope she wins because she's cool but I know nothing about them. But yeah I'm just glad it ended at 8 because our windows don't exactly close. Pretty legendary though because that means the fair here starts on Wednesday.
Other than that lovely experience. We've been grinding away here in Santa María hoping to see some real progress from our friends. While talking with our President, it was interesting to note how fast people can really change. The scriptures mention of a change that happens line upon line, precept upon precept, and yet Alma was changed in days. Saul was changed in days. Our friends can change in days. We can change in days. It can happen, the Lord's time must be trusted, whether faster or slower than we feel it should be.
Love,
Elder McOmber
