Rap the gospel 🎶

Hola hola fam

It's been quite the week. It's weird because we're literally in a little town called Rio Claro on the edge of who knows where in Costa Rica. And we wake up every morning just to stop everyone we see and ask them basically if they want eternal joy. Yet somehow, that's starting to feel normal. So weird.

One of our friends here told us a little while back of something called freestyle. That's the 'Spanish' term for it btw. We have it in the states but here It's just beloved. Idk if it is back home but here, it's a sport. You can make money off the profesional ones. Bro that sounds sick. We spent our time during this visit talking a lot about both this sport and the gospel for about an hour. Probably my favorite visit of all time not gonna lie. Anyways, a couple days after this visit we receive a voice message from him. It was a rap, in Spanish of course, about the gospel! I don't think I've ever been more hyped to preach! I of course have absolutely no clue what he was saying other than gospel and Book of Mormon. But I just felt so excited. I think imma listen to it every time someone shuts a door in our face from now on. It was beautiful🥲

What I really really loved about this guy and this experience though, was that he had taken his life, and the Gospel and made them one. Because that's the point! The thing that's so epic about the Gospel of Jesus Christ is it's for your life. God's purpose is our eternal joy. The literal creator, of everything, planets, stars, beauty, you. He wants you to use His gospel to be happy. So give it a shot. :)

The chapel chickens

Ayo ayo,

Independence day!!!! Pura Vida🎊🙌🎉🥳!! Today we went to parades and parties and stuff with the district because all of central America is celebrating Independence day. It was super awesome! Last night in the middle of the night we woke up to a parade passing by and playin drums and xylophones like there's no tomorrow😆

Sorry I'm super late emailing our pday Monday was super short and just for cleaning basically. But last week has been so fire. We were going to the church the other day and when we got there there's like 20 chickens just chillin there, vibin. Taught them the gospel it was great. Wish they would bring chickens to church back home.

Also, being able to just basically live off the word of God is somethin different. You begin to realize how crazy powerful the word of God really is. There's nothing like it. Especially here, in a place where all you have is a comp that doesn't really speak your language. In a place where the closest person you knew from the world before the mission is thousands of miles away. He is right there. This week, I had a lot of times where I wondered, "am I enough?" "Am I giving everything I've got?" and because I can't speak the language too well. Because I sometimes don't want to do it, I feel that I'm not. But with the help of the Lord (and my out of this dang world family😋), it doesn't matter what you think you did wrong, what you think you've messed up. You are not required to run faster than you have strength (Mosiah 4:27). Let your past problems dissolve. Give all that you have to the future. And before the pleasing bar of God, He will say thank you, my good and faithful servant, there is a mansion prepared for you, you have returned with honor.

My 1st week in Costa Rica!

Hey y'all,

It's my first week here in Costa Rica. It's been quite interesting. My comp speaks nearly no English and I don't speak a lot of spanish. That has been interesting. Another interesting thing that happened this week was fast sunday yesterday. We had been fasting for almost 22 hours so We are literally dead tired and SO flipping hungry right? and we're walking to the chapel to do studies and stuff for our last two hours before we can eat. And all of the sudden I can just smell smoke, like wood smoke, and I realize, Oh my gosh they're making smores! Dude I have no words to describe how good it smelled. I'm sure there were guardian angels to help me out because if there wasn't I think I would have just died right there on the spot. Man I wanted those things SO bad! Definitely gonna buy some smores at some point in these two years. Sounds so delicious, oh my!!

Other than the blessing of great food. This week has been pretty tough. I've never felt so exhausted. Like oh man, It's hard work. However when you do work that works you to your core ya know? It shows you what really matters. There's one thing that has been keeping me going when everything else fails. It's that I have a SOLID foundation. Like Helaman 5:12 is a FACT. Even through all the crap that sometimes gets in our way and gets in our life. With all our seemingly impossible trials and challenges and sometimes hopelessness. There is only one place you can go that will stand firm through it all. The rock of your Redeemer. So if you are going through these things. If you don't think you can make it out of your pit you've fallen into, that's ok, for Christ is standing just on top with a rope. All you gotta do is call to Him.

Love y'all mucho!
